REVIEW: L'oreal True Match

After months of seeing bloggers and Youtubers go crazy over it I finally decided to pick this up and I feel I've been using it long enough to give an honest opinion, I have been waiting for ages to write this review!

I really like this foundation - I wouldn't go as far to say it's my favourite all time foundation because I feel like it doesn't give me enough coverage and if I'm honest I'm not entirely sure I picked up the right shade. This one is in the shade W3 - Golden Beige and when I tried ones closest to this they didn't match at all, so I'm not sure if I just have a weird skin tone but I'm always paranoid it's too dark.

I apply it all over my face with my expert face brush, which gives me a really great finish but recently I've been using one of the eBay dupes to buff it in, and that seems to cover a lot more than the expert face brush so I think with this foundation it really depends on what you use to apply it because everything will make it look different.

This is turning into a very strange review.

It gives medium coverage and looks quite natural, although I don't feel it's buildable because it will only cover what it's capable of, and putting more on your face doesn't really change that. It is long wearing, however I do powder my face a bit dramatically, but I've found that whereas other foundations will last me the day, this one lasts all day and all night. I like that by the time it comes to take off my makeup, it hasn't melted and gone streaky but it's faded almost, which doesn't hassle me in any way and means I don't have to have emergency top ups during the day.

As for repurchasing I can say I probably would, but there's so many foundations I want to try so I might give this one a miss in the near future.

What's your thoughts on the L'oreal True Match? Does it work for you?

Go To Eye Makeup w/ Naked Basics Palette

I've been wearing this eye look since I first purchased the Naked Basics palette, so I thought I'd share it with you. It's a really simple and easy look, and it's literally all I wear on a daily basis.

First I take the colour W.O.S and put it all over my lid, and then I go in with Naked 2 in my crease, and then to darken up the crease I add a little of Faint. It adds some definition to my eye without being really dramatic but at the same time it looks very put together and looks like you spent forever on your makeup. Of course I have to add my signature cat eye - you will rarely catch me without it!

It's also really easy to wear as it goes with every and any lipstick colour; so I never have to spend ages thinking about what eye look to go for when I want to wear a red lip, and then a different eye look for a pink lip.

Urban Chic

Autumn is finally here and I'm loving it! Autumn is honestly my favourite season just because my favourite colours become huge fashion trends, chunky boots become less of a fashion statement and more of a necessity, and there is breeze in the air instead of humidity (which is just heaven, in my opinion).

I love this top from H&M, it has a really gorgeous wrap detail on the back which is the best thing to wear in this changing weather, where it's chilly outside but no way near time for jumpers. And it's just a really pretty detail, it look very feminine and adds a certain chic look to a casual outfit.

A Simple Statement

I used to be such a big fan of jewellery but I really went off of it for a very long time just because I didn't see the point of adding accessories to an outfit that is absolutely fine without it. But recently I've been noticing that adding statement to an outfit can really make or break the look you are going for.

Seeing as I've been without jewellery for a while I've been slowly building a collection and buying basic pieces so they'll fit into my wardrobe effortlessly,  and I picked up this necklace in Forever 21 a few weeks ago and I think it's the perfect statement to add without adding crazy drama to an outfit. It's for days where you need a little something, but not too much.

I also picked this up in gold too, just because I feel like silver and gold go well with different outfits, and I also have the choice to match accents on bags and shoes, and if I want to wear gold jewellery I can still wear this necklace.

Do you have a simple statement piece?

How I Style a Leather Skirt

Necklace: Forever 21
Graphic Tank: Forever 21
Blazer: River Island
Shoes: Converse and brogues from H&M

Leather skirts are cropping up all over and it seems they are going to be a huge Autumn trend, but when I picked mine up I was thinking about how to style it for a casual occasion, such as going to work or just hanging with my friends, and these are the looks I came up with! I also wanted to add in a little more dressy outfit so the last one I paired it with this boldly printed blazer.

What one is your favourite?

Urban Outfitters Loving

Urban Outfitters Loving

I have really been loving Urban Outfitters at the moment, and I always like them more in the Autumn/Winter months a) because they're my favourite seasons and b) because urban outfitters do A/W unlike ANY other high street store.

Everything I have chosen is under £50 and even though it's all black, white and grey I think they're all simple pieces that will go with everything and can be dressed up or down - like that bodysuit, wow that is coming home with me very soon!

What shop have you been lusting over recently?

Wish on a Peace Sign

I picked this little beauty up from Urban Outfitters because I've really been into jewellery lately and the simpler it is the better. This caught my eye because it's called the Wish Bracelet, and because I couldn't get a decent picture I'll quote the message for you:

'Put this on and tie it in two, make a wish and watch it soon come true.'

I thought this was really sweet and it actually makes a great gift for a friend, a loved one, or even maybe as a friendship bracelet. How cute would that be?!

I'm a huge fan of Urban Outfitters jewellery but I'm not a fan of their prices so my collection is a little small, but I like finding little gems like this - I can wear something like this with everything and anything, and because of it's simplicity I don't think it'll go out of 'style'.

Thanks for reading, what's your wish?

Too Early For Winter Boots?

If you follow me on instagram these shoes won't be new to you, but I am in LOVE with these boots! These are the ATTAIN Zip Front Boots from Topshop.

I really needed some winter boots that would just go with everything in my wardrobe and will last me for a long time, (well, as long as I can, I am an elephant in shoes), and these are just perfect. I love that they are a part of the whole grunge trend with the doc style sole and zip and buckle detailing, because I think one of the main aspects of my wardrobe now is grunge and these boots really tie everything together.

They aren't really heavy on my feet but I have been wearing boots for the past two years so I guess my feet have gotten used to the heaviness, however these shoes are so hard to break in. I have so many blisters on my heels that I feel a bit of a cripple when I want to wear my new loafers!

But anyway, I'm just going to embrace the pain because you can expect these shoes to be on my feet for the next 6 months!

REVIEW: Nivea Double Effect Eye Make-Up Remover

I couldn't afford another bottle of the Garnier Micellar Water so I picked up Nivea's Double Effect Eye Makeup Remover when it was on a special in Superdrug, hoping it would be just as good.

My first impression on this was that it didn't get to work straight away, I either had to hold the cotton pad on my eye for 30 seconds or drench the cotton pad in the product which weren't two things I experienced with the Micellar Water, however it after the initial removal of makeup it did get to work quite fast. I found that it didn't take that much time - which is something I love, the one thing I hate about makeup is taking it off.

I find it quite oily too, despite it saying it doesn't leave an oily residue and even though it is designed for sensitive eyes it really irritated my under eye area at first, although that did pass after a while.

It's not that I think this product is bad, I just feel like there's better products out there that do a better job, however for the price it is I think it is a good option.

Clubbing With Velvet

Seeing as last week I shared my go-to bar outfit, I thought I'd show you a clubbing outfit too. This is something I've worn on multiple occasions and I think it's a really fun and appropriate outfit.

I try not to dress too wacky to draw attention to myself, but I like having statement pieces that require no effort whatsoever - that way I'm never worrying about how I look, and I can just have a good time!

For my statement I have a purple velvet skirt from Forever 21. I hope velvet is still a trend this year because I absolutely love it, but I think to wear it you have to wear it with toned down pieces so I have on this really simple black crop top from Topshop - it's not available anymore but you can get plain crop tops from just about anywhere - and also a pair of black heeled sandals.

August Favourites

I haven't been trying many new things this month, but I had a few favourites that I thought I'd share.

The first is the St Ives Blemish Fighting Apricot Scrub and this stuff is an exfoliating face scrub that really gets rid of any dirt on your face that can lead to spots. I think this is amazing, right after I use this my face is so refreshed and is visibly clear, and even though this month I have had some terrible breakouts, I feel like when I use this it really gets to work on getting rid of them, and also preventing them where they threaten to emerge too.

The second is the NYC Smooth Skin Bronzer in Sunny and this is probably the best drugstore bronzer I've tried - and seeing as I've never tried a high end bronzer, I'd have to say it's my favourite bronzer ever. Wow how many times am I gonna say bronzer?! But really this product isn't orange or muddy and it works really well on my skin tone. It's really easy to blend as well - I can make it natural as well as a little more dramatic, I'm so amazed it's so cheap!

Next up I've got Maybelline's The Rocket Volume Express Mascara, and I've been using this a lot recently and I've only just realised how amazing it is. It really lengthens my lashes and makes them look full and voluminous.

Lastly it has to be my go to lipstick, Bourjois Une Lip Toned Colour Lipstick in the shade 07. This is very much a 'my lips but better' lip product. I like using this when I want a little extra something without having a really obvious colour on my lips. I have been wearing for about 2 weeks non stop so I have to say it's on my list of all time favourites!

Thanks for reading, what are your favourites?

Sundays

Yesterday I was inspired by Sundays, and I was thinking about doing a post on my go-to bar/pub outfit, so I thought why not make a day of it and actually take in how pretty this little street is by the pier.

I was so lucky the sun came out, it looks like I live in such a sweet fairy tale village when really it's the complete opposite, (it kicked off in the pub and it didn't shock anyone). I love the Sunday's when we are blessed with mild weather and just a dash of sun because it inspires my family to go on country walks and I thought I'd have a tiny one of my own with my boyfriend.

I found this door sign and I thought it was incredibly funny, it reminded me of a little seaside house and it's just so adorable!

This is the outfit I wanted to show - I featured this shirt in a favourites post but I wanted to show how I'd style it and I thought it'd be nice for a smart casual event such as going to a bar, but also a casual day where you just want to look put together. I don't wear jewellery on the regular, but if I do I like it to be statement so I don't have to wear too much, so I thought this super simple necklace worked really well with this outfit.

Can we take a moment to appreciate these gorgeous shoes I just bought from H&M? I've seen brogues/loafers everywhere and I have fallen in love with them. They can be styled in so many different ways - so be on the lookout for a styling post - and I think they are shoes for many occasions too.

And, of course, I had to find a cat didn't I? I can never ignore a cat, they're are just so cute!
