I've always loved foundation - I remember being so adamant that I wanted a foundation for my 11th birthday as I really wanted to get into makeup and start a collection. I think the first one that I got was Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse which was the very beginning of my makeup collection. I obviously don't have it anymore, and I've tried out many drugstore foundations before finding my favourites, but recently I wanted to start delving into the world of high end foundations.
I've seen so many girls talk about Mac Studio Fix but I'm never sold because I've heard that the foundation really breaks you out. However I really need a high coverage base because I do have a lot of blemishes, spot scars and uneven skin tone. After watching and reading reviews I decided to take the plunge and buy Laura Mercier's Silk Creme Foundation (which you can purchase here) as it was number one on my list.
First impressions on this was wow, it's covered everything. I will say now that this foundation is very high coverage; it covered my spot scars and uneven skin tone so well without looking cakey which is a dream. It doesn't cover my redness that well however, like throughout the day I can see my redness is coming through, but I love how this foundation doesn't go patchy or streaky. I have the shade Beige Ivory and I think it's the perfect shade for me although it doesn't have a vast range of shades which is the only downside. I am very impressed with this and it has become my go to base for an every day look, and I think I will repurchase this.
I always feel like packaging isn't very important as long as the product is good but I adore the packaging for this. It' so sleek and elegant and I love the simplicity of it. It doesn't try to be fancy and nor does it try to be over the top. Simple packaging is my favourite!
There are another two that are on my list to try, so I think I will wait before buying this again, but I really love it and I don't think I will hesitate to purchase it. I want to try the Tarte Amazonian Clay 24 Hour Foundation and Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation because I've heard so many good things about those two and I'm feeling so much better about buying more expensive foundations as they are so worth it.
Do you have a favourite high end foundation?
